How to Keep The Walls Clean

If you feel joy in keeping your home tidy and safe, you probably have a few housekeeping tricks up your sleeve. You want to keep your house looking good, from scrubbing and mopping to hardwood floor maintenance and carpet washing. But do you know how to scrub the walls properly? You're not lonely if you haven't added "wall sweeping" to the cleaning list. We don't pay as much attention to our walls as we do to horizontal surfaces such as floors, counters, and furniture. However, given how often we touch our walls, especially around switch plates and doorways, learning how to wash them is a valuable skill. Without daily washing, dust, soil, and germs will quickly accumulate. Keeping the walls clean reduces the amount of pollen that can aggravate asthma and allergies, and it also helps your house look and sound healthier. This prevents germs and viruses from spreading, allowing you to have a healthy atmosphere for your families.

How to keep wall tidy and clear of marks

Cleaner for Walls in General

To give the walls a general clean and fix up. 1 teaspoon lavender oil in a spray bottle filled with water Spray it on the wall and brush it out with pantyhose. Alternatively, you should clean your walls with sugar soap from every grocer or hardware store.

To Remove Grease Marks

Grease stains on your walls can be removed with the same vinegar/water solution as before (especially in the kitchen). Lemon juice is an excellent degreaser, but you can apply a few splashes to the solution to get rid of persistent grease spots.

Scuff Marks and Dirty Fingerprints

Wipe off the walls with 12 cups of white vinegar and 12 cups of warm water mixture to remove sticky fingerprints. Eucalyptus oil rubbed on the fingerprints with a cotton ball still works well.

Pen and a permanent marker stain

This is the most popular creative expression that ends up on our walls, thanks to our little one’s artistic efforts. There are a few options for removing ink from painted walls:

  • Spray a Cloth with hairspray until it's almost saturated, then carefully smooth it over the ink spot.

  • Using a cotton ball, dab rubbing alcohol on the ink stain until it disappears.

  • Apply toothpaste to it and put it on for 10 minutes before washing it off with water

  • Apply a cotton swab with eucalyptus oil and rub it directly on the spot.

Smudge with a crayon

Crayon is another waxy material that the kids want to use on our walls. To remove crayons without removing the ink, we use Magic Erasers.

How to clean different types of walls

Flat, satin, and eggshell finishes should be used with caution.

Most wall paint finishes aren't as long-lasting as the paint used for window trim, walls, and baseboards. On walls with smooth color finishes, never use harsh additives or industrial degreasers. Use a fluffy sponge dampened in washing solvent to scrub these walls. If you scrub too vigorously, you can lose some of the paint.

Glossy and semi-gloss finishes are very durable.

Because of their durability, these paint finishes are often used in high-density areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. On glossy walls, a gentle degreaser is safe to use as long as you clean carefully. Use a soft sponge to avoid bruises, even though glossy paints are rough.

For latex paint walls, use warm water and a general cleaner.

Use a soft sponge and a dry, all-purpose cleaning solution including water, dish soap, and distilled white vinegar to remove this kind of color. Clean the wall by dipping a clean sponge in your wall cleaner, wringing it out, and softly cleaning it. The vinegar odor should fade when the wall dries, but you can speed up the process by rubbing the wall down with a damp rag.

Warm water and dish soap are used to clean oil-based paint walls.

If the walls are painted with oil-based paint, skip the white vinegar. Vinegar's acid can fade and affect oil-based finishes. Scrub the mud away with dish soap, baking soda, and warm water, but leave the sponge wet when doing so. For oil-based coating, the dish soap should be strong enough to remove debris, whilst the baking soda serves as a gentle abrasive.

Before you scrub the walls, dust them.

Dust the walls starting at the top and working your way down. A broom is useful for cleaning cobwebs and getting up to the top molding. Dusting chair rails and wall corners are better with an unused paintbrush or a dried microfiber rag. Use your vacuum with the brush attachment if your walls are particularly dirty.

Although it's important to clean the areas around sockets, light switches, and thermostats to remove built-up grime, don't get them wet. Before wiping the switch plates and outlet covers with something liquid, make sure the breaker is turned off. When cleaning the walls, place towels around the base of the walls to cover the floors.

Cleaning walls can be stressful and time-consuming. If you are not able to keep it clean and tidy then you can opt for professional house cleaners services since they are the best in what they do.
